Google Transit debuts in Perth

27 Mar, 2008 | Google

A week ago whilst Eric Schmidt was in Australia, he announced the launch of Google Transit for Perth as the first city in the southern hemisphere to receive this service. Today this feature has gone live.

Powered by information from Transperth, Google Map users will be able to easily access public transport time tables, routes and plan trips using local public transportation.

You can use this new feature via Google Maps or Google Transit homepage. I wonder if we will see this integrated into the Google SERP (Search Engine Results Page) sometime in the future?

Practical uses for using Google Transit

  • Discovering a shorter route to your destination
  • Work on improving your commuting schedule
  • Planning a trip in advance

Ofcoarse, Google Transit has all the same features we have come to love in Google Maps, but now you are able to customise your searches by specific date and time.
